About 2023 IAOS-ISI Zambia Conference

Zambia will be hosting the 2023 Zambia Conference: Better Lives for 2030 in Livingstone, from  4th to 6th
April, 2023. 
The conference will be held as an in-person event only. The 2023 Zambia Conference is the 17th International Association for Official Statistics Conference and 3rd International Statistical Institute Regional Statistics Conference. It is jointly organised by the International Association for Official Statistics, International Statistical Institute and the Zambia Statistics Agency – ZamStats. The conference is being held after the rainy season, and the mighty Victoria Falls, one of Seven Wonders of the World, should be a magnificent sight to be witnessed.

 

Registration of Delegates

Registration of delegates will be done online. All delegates are advised to collect their conference IDs and other conference materials upon arrival at the Conference venue. Issuance of conference ID cards and bags will start on Sunday 2nd  and continue on Monday 3rd April, 2023  between 8:00am – 5:00pm.
All participants will be required to wear their identification badges all the time to be allowed entry into the conference venues for identification and security purposes. Participants should ensure they present their passports for onsite accreditation.

Working language of the Conference

The conference will be conducted in English and French and translators will be made available for translations.

Passport and Visa Requirements (VISA AND IMMIGRATION)

Requirements for visitor’s visas to Zambia differ from country to country. Participants are encouraged to ascertain well in advance whether or not they will need a visa to enter Zambia, as well as applicable exemptions.

Zambian visa costs US$50 per person and will be issued on arrival by the Department of Immigration, upon presentation of the official conference invitation letter for those delegates requiring a visa. The Immigration Department also requires that all participants’ passports should be valid for at least 6 months before expiry.

Holders of diplomatic passports as well as United Nations Laissez Passer will receive visas gratis.

Delegates who require visas to enter Zambia are also strongly encouraged to apply and obtain visas online via the Immigration Website.

Conference Venue-Avani Pleasure Resort

The Workshop and meeting will be held at AVANI Victoria Falls Resort in Livingstone, Zambia.

The negotiated room rates for participants is USD129 (bed and breakfast included) for a Standard Room at AVANI Victoria Falls Resort where the conference will take place. The hotel will also provide shuttle services to and from the airport. The Hotel will also provide separate prayer rooms –for our male and female delegates requiring these. It will also provide Iftar and Suhoor meals for colleagues fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.

In addition to accommodation costs, all participants will be responsible for all other costs: i.e. telephone, Internet/fax, room service, mini-bar and laundry, additional meals (dinner) - and must pay these directly to the hotel at checkout.
