CSO scoops Best e-Transformation award at Africa Public Service day

The Central Statistical Office (CSO) has scooped first prize for Best e-Transformation category award at the just ended 2019 Africa Public Service day commemorations.

The department participated at the road show which started on June 19 to 21, 2019 at East Park Mall in Lusaka.

Census Manager Frank Kakungu has since expressed gratitude to Minister of National Development Planning Alexander Chiteme for the unwavering support and commitment shown towards the department.

Receiving the award which includes a Trophy and Certificate, Mr Kakungu also extended his gratitude to both Permanent Secretaries Chola Chabala for Development Administration Planning (DAP) and Mushuma Mulenga for Development Corporation Monitoring and Evaluating (DC, M&E) and the entire management at the Ministry. 

He also appreciated the encouragement and advice rendered by the Acting Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa and the Deputy Secretary and e-Government Coordinator Martine Mtonga to the 2020 Census Secretariat.

Mr. Kakungu also thanked the CSO Acting Director Goodson Sinyenga for the support and appreciated the hard work exhibited by the 2020 Census team and the entire CSO Management. 

The theme for this year’s commemorations was “The intersection of Youth Empowerment and Migration, Entrenching a Culture of Good Governance, ICT and Innovation for Inclusive Service Delivery”.

The interpretation of the theme by Census was dismantled as follows;

Youth Empowerment and Migration

As Zambia will be conducting the 2020 Census, and CSO being mandated to be the department that coordinates the statistics will for the first time conduct the Census using mobile technology

The census results will provide the following information on the youths:

  1. How many they are
  2. Where they are
  3. Who they are
