Vital Statistics

ZamStats working in collaboration with the Department of National Registration Passport and Citizenship (DNRPC) and other stakeholders have been producing Vital Statistics reports since 2016, following recommendations by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) that all countries should endeavor to produce vital statistics from civil registration regardless of coverage and completeness levels. So far, five reports for the years 2016, 2017 2018, 2019, and 2020 have been produced.

Vital Statistics are a key constituent to good governance, national planning, and monitoring of development programs and health interventions. Annual production and publication of vital statistics reports are expected to respond to a number of vital statistical needs for the country, including monitoring the implementation of National Development Plans, Vision 2030, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
