Why is Census data important?
This immense volume of data collected in a Census has many potential uses for both the Government and researchers. Census data is crucial for informing policies, allocating resources, and understanding demographic trends across various areas like education, healthcare, housing, and economic development, by providing a comprehensive snapshot of a population’s characteristics, including age, race, income, and location, which helps decision-makers plan for future needs and distribute funds accordingly
What type of data is produced from a Census?
Census data produces demographic, social, economic, and geographic data about a population, including information on age, sex, race, ethnicity, household composition, income, occupation, education level, housing type, and location, usually broken down by geographic area
In our pursuit to provide quality and credible data to our users, the Zambia Statistics will this year 2025 release all the Census reports including thematic reports. The reports will be released between February and July 2025 as provided in the timeline schedule
