Cumulative total trade for the period January to April 2026 was K195.7 billion while that of 2025 for the same period was K216.1 billion, representing 9.5 percent decrease (see Figure
4).
Total Exports and Imports by Mode of Transport, April 2026
The total value of exports via all modes of transport for the period January to April 2026 was K 105.2 billion. Road transport accounted for the highest value at K101.3 billion representing a 96.3 percent share. Air transport was second with K2.3 billion (2.1 percent) and Rail transport was third with a value of K0.4 billion (0.4 percent).
The total volume of exports via all modes for the period January to April 2026 was 3.2 million Mt, of which Road transport accounted for the highest volume with 2.6 million Mt, representing 80.2 percent. Rail transport accounted for 8.7 thousand Mt, representing 0.3 percent. Air transport accounted for 1.4 thousand Mt (0.04 percent), while other modes accounted for 620.1 thousand Mt (19.5 percent) (see Table 8).
